Relationship Nepal Orphanage
Relationship Orphanage Nepal was established in 2004 as a non-governmental charity organization. The aim of the Orphanage is to provide orphaned, homeless and underprivileged children education, healthcare and home. urban a* supports the orphanage in different ways.
For X-Mas, 2011 urban a* donated money to the Relationship Orphanage in Nepal, paying for a full school year for all 12 kids at the orphanage. Otherwise we empty our stocks every now and then and send a bunch of t-shirts and clothes to the children at the orphanage. We are very happy to help the children at the Relationship Nepal orphanage in Kathmandu.
El Manzano Uno, Nicaragua
El Manzano Uno is a small community on the countryside in the north of Nicaragua. Through a local community development program, that is focused on improving the quality of life, it is possible to make a difference in the community. urban a* took part in making a difference for this community by volunteering.
During the spring of 2011, owner and co-founder of urban a*, Ullica Hansson, was volunteering in El Manzano Uno. The volunteering consisted of two parts; educating the children of El Manzano Uno, among others learning them how to read and write, as well as teaching English. Secondly, the aim was to help the young women in the community. Ullica created a Jewelry Club for the young women and thanks to the club 7 new jobs was created. This has given the women self confidence, hope and happiness a source of income.
